so glad i can quit trying to figure out who's craz
by: Summer-long observerHad a friend go through recruitment and so have been looking at this all summer. (Been out of college-not OU- for several years.) I never could figure out which house had the sociopath -- Chi O or Gamma Phi -- and unfortunately I'm an alum of one of those houses. I was relieved she didn't pledge either one because it seems like there are some bitter, rotten apples in both. I WILL give someone in Gamma Phi credit for organization skills -- 3x the ratings of other houses had to have involved a lot of GPB self-rating over an extended period. As for the rest, I'm glad social media wasn't around when I went through rush, and I have to believe the the girls (and guys) that spend the most time on here are those that have very limited lives at college. Don't know what they'll do with their free time after they graduate.

If you didn't go to OU you are not an alum of " one of those houses". Any girl who was ever in a sorority knows she is a member of one of the sororities for life. No Greek female would ever write it the way poster did. So although you make a valid point it two you aren't who you claim to be so how do you know who the people posting really were or are? You don't.

Have to laugh at someone who thinks I was never in a sorority just because I've got the detachment and wisdom that comes with age to be able to think objectively about a chapter of my sorority. (And I said upfront I didn't go to OU.) Regarding the last post: I understand the only defense against the vitriol spewed by a few is to try to offset it with numbers. That's the definite downside of anonymous social media: cyber-bullies do not even have to have the courage to be known for who they are, compared to "schoolyard" bullies. There is no chance for illuminating conversation about a topic; you just have to keep swatting back at them like they were annoying flies. Unfortunately, compared to a lot of anonymous blogs etc., Greek Rank has the ability to impact people's lives in a bad way when used for nefarious purposes. As an outsider interested in one girl's rush, this was my only way to try to get a handle on OU sororities. I hope that it represents the tiniest portion of Greek life there, and that all of the houses have a great, positive year. Boomer Sooner.

Why is it acceptable to judge the person who posted their opinion?? You don't like it, fine post a rebuttal. But this was an well thought out opinion. Doesn't matter if they went to OU. Whether they are or are not an alum. I know lots of women who say "I was a member of xyz". It isn't something they think about. I know what they meant.
I get that rankings bring out the crazy. But other than that give the personal attacks a rest.

You are quite correct. I am a member, not an alumnae, of one of those sororities, but quite frankly it was decades ago and I have not remained actively involved. I guess enough life has happened to me that I don't identify as a "Greek female." And no, I DON'T know who the people posting were or are, and I doubt that anyone else knows for sure. But the back-and-forth backbiting casts a confusing/bad light on both houses, which is a real shame -- because I'm sure whoever is doing it (advisors or actives) are in a small minority in both houses.
