Getting a Realistic bid
by: PnmHow competitive is rush at ou? I didnt think it was crazy competitive but now im having a hard time getting rec letters. Do rec letters make a big difference? Is it realistic to get a bid from one of the “top 5” houses without a letter? And how do I make connections with girls already In sorroritites? Is it a red flag or like “pick me” if I comment on girls posts? I’m keeping an open mind for all chapters I just wanna be prepared and realistic lol

I think a lot of PNMs go into it thinking it won't be competitive because it's not a traditional Southern school or UT, and then end up being crushed. It's competitive and there are very distinct top and bottom tiers.
Getting a bid from a Top 5 house without already having connections is difficult. Not impossible, but also not something you should expect. Rec letters don't matter as much as having girls in that sorority who are pulling for you. A rec letter will not get you a bid on its own. It could possibly make the difference between an invitation to the first invite-only round or not.
Commenting on posts could hurt you if other sororities see you commenting on certain houses and assume you're not interested in the others.

A social media connection is not a real 'connection'. Sorority 'connections' mean that girls know each other, or know of each other, IRL. Same high school, same hometown, friends of friends, etc. You don't seem to have those, so you actually know nothing about any sorority and have no idea which one is really for you. You, like many many many other pnm's, think you want or belong in the 'top', but the other sororities offer the same experience and opportunities and those members love their life and are proud of their letters. Look, not getting into a 'top' house does not mean you're not a top girl, doesn't mean those houses don't like you or find you unworthy, or wouldn't want to be your friend.

Most people don't worry about how people on this website rate houses at OU. Most girls look at the houses and decide which one feels the most comfortable and like home. If you are a social climber, then you might care about it. Otherwise, keep calm and follow your heart. Scheming to get into a house you don't really belong in or fit into is just a recipe for dropping out of greek life.
