What is black out?

I’ve heard Alpha Phi does something called blackout. What is it?

Party they throw after bid day where they all get extremely drunk with their pledges. However if you don’t want to drink you don’t have to.

It’s called “blackout or back out” but as another commenter said, you won’t be forced to drink. You’d obviously feel peer pressure, and a desire to do it to fit in, but no one will make you drink, if only for the fear of repercussions for making you drink.

black out drunk means you are a step away from alcohol poisoning. If you see a sister that drunk, call 911 -- don't let her die

Thank you for adding this!! It is not something I had thought about. I am not an alpha phi, so I really do not know, though I know girls there, but my working knowledge of this event is that blackout is not the expectation, it’s just the name since it rhymes.
