Theta and Tri Delt are not doing snap bids. They met quota for PC 21.

Snap bidding happens before bid day. There are usually a few sororities short of quota, they can offer snap bids to get to quota.

There are very few spots. If you attended a 3rd round you might be considered. They review girls who did not get bids but that did not drop out. If you dropped out of rush you were not eligible for a snap bid.

Contact Panhellenic for groups who will be doing open COB. They can only recruit up to the number know as Total. 5/6 sororities are eligible every year. Only 2/3 will be open about it. If a group only has a few spots they are usually quickly filled with close friends or people they already know.

Nobody knows how many snap bids were issued by a group. You heard what is most likely a bad rumor.

Based on numbers I doubt TriDelt or Theta will be doing open COB even if they are eligible. They don’t have to go through Panhellenic to fill those spots. They can quietly add their selections to their PC. If you don’t know someone very involved in Theta this will not work out for you. And if you knew people you wouldn’t be asking here. So move your focus to groups who are actively recruiting.

Advice? Go to the events of the groups open to inviting members via COB. Be open minded. Join one of them. And have a great college experience. We have 11 awesome chapters. You would be lucky to be invited to be a member in any one of them.

Register with pan they usually have a COB sign up link after formal recruitment is over.

Good advice except for one major thing. "If you dropped out of rush you were not eligible for a snap bid" is not true and against NPC policy. Girls who drop out may certainly be snapped.

True. Any girl who completes round one is eligible for a snap bid. But realistically girls who don’t maximize their options are at a disadvantage. And if you were cut bc of the specific sorority’s grade cut off you most likely won’t be considered.

And nobody knows you were a snap bid unless you tell them. Bid day all the members are welcomed the same.

Can’t say I’ll ever get wanting to be a member of a house that chose to overlook you. Why pant after them? You’re worth more IMO just like you are when sizing up BF’s. Keep your dignity and find a sisterhood that welcomes you with open arms.

Or not.

It's not about "a house that chose to overlook you." It's all about numbers and RFM. Being released from a house's recruitment doesn't mean a pnm wasn't liked, or even loved. The required releases each house is given by RFM dictate the number of releases, and a girl could be .2 points away from that cut off and the actives are just as disappointed. There is no shame or dignity involved and PNM's should continue to pursue all their options to get a bid.

Girls do get dropped or fall through the cracks of the system. Formal relies heavily on your resume and connections. There are just too many girls to consider.
COB is a respectable alternate way to join Greek life. And is probably the best way for those with low grades, no connections, or are a junior/sophomore.

The sorority can get to know you and not just your resume.

But you will be disappointed if you go into the process only wanting particular chapters. Not every chapter can or will participate. But the sorority experience is worth it so that shouldn’t factor in too heavily.

“pursue all options to get a bid…”

Do you hear yourself?

Short of what?

What tripe. As if a girls life hinges on this one thing. Ridiculous.

For someone who wants to join a sorority and formal didn't work out, there are other options to get a bid and those girls should go for it. If you personally think that's tripe then that's absolutely no skin off anybody's nose. Why even comment when it's nothing to do with you.

I love all the pan coverup on this post. I know for a fact that TriDelta and Theta snap bid to make quota. They did make quota but they did snap bid to make it. Also Theta has 12 spots. Quit covering for them.

No one is covering anything. No sorority issues a bid, even a snap bid, to a girl they don’t want. Period.

When I was active we absolutely passed on some girls the year we were eligible to issue snap bids.

COB spots are based on Total. I am not on current Panhellenic, but not sure that would be set until all actives are accounted for and pledges are committed. It’s a bit early.

And it doesn’t matter. Half the houses are always eligible since it is based on mean number of girls per house. It’s just math. And another way to join Greek life. It is how it works. And it is a good thing to offer different ways to join.

In summary. It really doesn’t matter who is doing COB.
