Alpha Phi question

by:

My mom went to OCU and was an Alpha Phi there. I had thought I wanted to be one at OU but the things I've read about supporting an abuser kind of scare me no lie. So are the Alpha Phis kind of ostracized because of that or will they have a hard time getting new members because of it? I really don't know any of the girls in the house, just a few from my mom's era and they weren't at OU so I don't have anyone to ask. tia

The sisterhood here at OU and nationals are awful. Greek community knows what they've done so there are biases. I dont recommend rushing aphi.

I would also not want to be apart of a chapter that dirty rushes and only values looks over connections.

Looks over “connections?” What the heck.
So you’re admitting girls aren’t evaluated on their own merits but on who they happen to know? SMH

They are not the most respected house at OU because it's been proven that their Nationals teach them how to recruit for girls that have a certain look. They don't look at connections, grades, involvement, etc., so they don't take the same quality of girls that other houses do. None of this would matter if they were happy there but they have a huge drop out percentage and girls complain that they have a terrible sisterhood. I'm not going to tell you what you should do, but I would not want that for my house.

I think she meant connections as in relatability to other girls in the house, not social connections.

It's not her fault that she's his sister, but the whole point of sororities when they were established was to stick up for women. The sister should have reached out to the victim and offered her support as a woman, instead she and her sisters flooded social media with support for the abuser. That hit most thinking people as the wrong way to handle it and showed a disdain for victims.

Pretty sure their national is only interested in recruiting hot girls. Grades, sisterhood, leadership, campus involvement don’t matter. Alpha Phi nationals only wants TikTok and Insta girls.

That doesn't help make a cohesive sisterhood if you're not choosing girls for their personality

You’re right. They do have the hottest girls in campus.

They use to but not after their nationals kicked so many girls out but they're good at hiding some of the girls until after recruitment. One of my friends is hidden as an executive assistant instead of participating. She said several other girls are too

Hey girl, I personally know a lot of OCU aphis and a lot of OU aphis. The dynamics of the different chapters are way different as in the OCU aphis are quite a bit nicer. But even that chapter had a scandal last year. Do with this information what you will.
