by: Pan GirlLol I know this is greek rank but I'm sick of all the fights about the ranks on here. At OU there are really just overall 4 kinds of houses but you can actually find friends in any house. There are houses that look for girls with top grades and lots of activities/involvement.There are houses that look for girls with specific social connections. There are houses that look for girls that like to party. And finally there are houses that take whichever girls like their houses and want to be a part of their sisterhood. People want to argue about which houses are on top but opinion varies because of the person writing the post liking something different that someone else. So get over it

I find a lot of truth in this. Girls are going to think that the house that represents them is the top house. Which is how they should think. But girls are miserable if they're a party girl and choose a grades house after pref because of what they're read on here about tiers.

Pnms should decide before recruitment what kind of a house they want. I think there are probably girls of every type in every house, but some have a more prominent type. For example, if you're not an evangelical Christian and you pref Chi O, between OSU and OU, you're not going to have any alum friends, even if you find another like-minded girl in your class. If you're not a serious academic, then you'll be miserable in the Theta house because grades come first, not fun. If you somehow slip into KKG and aren't a private school girl or from Nichols Hills, you're going to be miserable. And if you have to work to pay your dues -- that's the worst. My suggestion would be to look for a house that has lots of different kinds of girls so you can find your people. (Just so you know, I realize that a bunch of moms are going to flood this post claiming to be atheist Chi Os, Thetas with low grades, Kappas whose parents are homeless, etc. Don't believe them.)

People who read posts on here about tiers and decide they want to be in a certain house before recruitment even starts are stupid. People (moms and alums) who make comments do it because they are insecure about the houses their old houses and the ones their daughters joined. When you see discussions like this one (against ranking) and the politics one, they're more likely to be girls commenting. So choose the house you want and don't look back at greekrank. You'll see the same ladies upranking the same houses year after year

Just because a house only recruits a certain type of girl doesn’t mean they are the best house on campus. It just means that house lacks diversity. “Selective” doesn’t always equal “Best”.
Honestly every house is selective. At OU if a girl doesn’t have good grades and a decent resume they often get cut by all 11 groups.

Exactly. All the houses are selecting the girls they want and only a few girls get all their choices of houses. And that's fine. The problem is when some girls come into recruitment KNOWING what house they want (we all know girls like this). They've looked at GR and want the most selective and prestigious house and if they don't get it they settle for #2. Only problem is that on GR, houses #1 and #2 are completely different in what they're looking for. So a girl who's shopping for a house she thinks will bring her prestige is likely to end up with a house she doesn't really fit in. So she hates the greek system and drops out. That's bad for us all. So stop with the stupid fake ranking and just let the PNMs get to know the houses and so on

To be honest the PNMs are not choosing anything until Pref in most cases. It isn’t really mutual. But they def should not make decisions based on this website. Tragic mistake.

Seriously I know so many girls who dropped bc they didn’t get the house they “thought” was the best for them. Or the only one house they could call home.
It’s crap. They all regretted dropping. Every single one of them. They found out nobody cares what letters you are wearing after formal rush. Nobody on campus that is. (Looking at you alums and moms)
