Do all houses get to participate in COB?
by: ConfusedWhat if some houses besides the 5 right now lose some girls? Are they able to call girls throughout the fall semester?
#2by: Doesn’t happen
If houses lose girls during the fall they might spring rush. Some house’s Nationals make them (to help pay the expenses of the house, since they set dues in expected number of members), other houe’s Nationals won’t let them spring rush. Other houses make up their mind locally, I don’t know the rules of any house but my own.
TBH I think the girls who didn’t join a house this fall should petition Panhellenic to let a new house in campus. Where my aunt went fo school, a new house colonized with 200 members which was the same size as the other houses because there were freshman, sophomores, juniors and even seniors who got shut out of rush their year but still wanted the Greek experience.
I’m going to be honest and tell you if you are counting on Spring rush from a house you got cut from, the chances are not great of being invited to Spring rush. You can increase your chances by making friends, improving your grades, and getting recs from alumnae. Mostly making friends with girls in the house.

No. Total is set based on membership after rush. The groups eligible won’t change until spring. And may only have one or two spots. And usually already have friends they know who didn’t rush for some reason.
Also some groups have a once cut rule. If they cut you during formal you won’t be offered a bid in the future.

Having a new house won’t help those who dropped or thought themselves above certain houses. Their resume will not have created better options. Until we go several years with 85+ quota bring accomplished by all groups they won’t chance a new house causing a current house to fail. Once again those houses aren’t cheap.
