Now that you've accepted a bid...

by: OU Pan Gal

Let me give you a couple of suggestions.

Recruitment is so exciting and you've been used to being the center of attention. Now that school has started and things are back to normal, everyone seems busy and unavailable. The actives are starting their own demanding classes. The sophomores are moved in enjoying new adventures living in the house. People are getting to spend time with their friends in other houses.

At this point some new members begin to feel left out. Some begin to feel like they should have chosen another house because they haven't made any friends in their house. Some begin to think that all the other sororities are treating their new members better than yours is.

This is the truth, so please believe me. Everyone is feeling the same. So what should you do?

You're only going to get out of a sorority what you put into it. If you wait to be invited to do anything with your sisters, you'll find that it happens less and less. You need to throw yourself into all the activities that the house provides. Call the active in charge of new members and see if you can just drop by when you have time between classes. See if you can go there and study. Call a new member sister you don't know yet and go to Classics. Invite the new girls in your dorm for popcorn or something. In other words MAKE THE EFFORT! The girls that are the happiest at OU are those that get involved. So don't let your ego get in the way and make you feel like you need to be invited to do things. Invite others to have fun with you and you'll find your people.

This is good advice and if you're going to be on here you should try to learn something real.

You said what I wanted to. And right on the money. They think the Instagram experience is delivered with the bid card. A meaningful experience takes effort, but you get back so much more than the superficial experience you THINK others are having. They are just like you. If they are getting more chances are they are getting involved and reaching out. Good luck. ❤️

I've already heard girls say that their nm class is boring and that they wished they were in another house because that house is so fun. This is when there's been very little interaction yet. This comment is one of the rare comments on here that is actually good advice

Your sisters need you to be level headed and have common sense when they say they're going to drop out
