current accurate consensus on sororities

by:

I looked at several of the rankings on here and didn't see any that truly reflect OU. This is the real way things are here.

Most highly thought for character, academics, philanthropy, looks, selectivity in recruitment, sisterhood, social events, and cac competitiveness. A few random problems don't hurt their reps much:
Kappa
Tri Delta
Theta
Gamma Phi
Pi Phi

Transitional houses which either used to be good and are falling or ones that used to be less competitive and are rising:
Chi O - used to have a good name but a series of bad choices has left them with an "iffy" reputation. Some girls are great - especially their legacies, others are QR.
Alpha Phi - still one of the newer houses and so has taken more random girls to fill their enormous house. They won u-sing last year with ATO and placed in scandals, so they are now recruiting some talented girls. Unfortunately a lot of girls in this house are also QR.
Alpha Chi - still trying to live down their "make it snow" moment but they have come a long way. Their new member class this year is filled with sweet, attractive girls and they made u-sing.
DG - Used to be right under the top group but unfortunate public events have hurt their reputation. Their class has some great girls but many QR. Not on a path to change.
AOII - Newest sorority has struggled. Now they have raised their profile with a good showing in hoco. Expect big things from this house.
AGD - traditionally last but made u-sing this year. On the rise.

Excellent ranking. I like the idea of top houses and transitional houses. There is really no controversy about which houses are top (even though there is one crazy person who blows up this board about them). The transitional houses are the ones that can be different depending on what you value the most.

Only ranking I saw that was even close.

It's the only one you saw you liked because it's totally false I'm guessing you wrote it and bumped it. GPB is not a good house at OU everyone knows it. The girls who receive bids to this house are very disappointed. They cry, then drop or stay with gphi and pretend to be a good house on greekrank because their real social lives are ruined

You're the person who constantly slams gphi and this is such an obvious lie -- you have a quite distinct writing style and it is easy to see which comments (98% of the ones written) are yours.

Good ranking especially with the idea of transitioning.

I'd put Pi Phi in the category of transitioning. They are not a top house now. Everyone still talks about the barn, the portapotty, the fire escape, etc. It's going to take a while for them to overcome their bad rep.

And I just read on a different comment that they're blaming Gamma Phi (one of the sweetest sororities here) for all their bad press. Incredible.

OMG, Pi Phi. Give it up! You are not a top house. Don't keep putting your name with ours!!!

Pi Phi is not even remotely considered as a top house by PNMs. In fact, they had to snap bid even to meet quota. I know someone posts on here full time that they are, but that's just self ranking.

I just read several comments, obviously by Pi Phis who slammed other houses and said they were the most desired! I guess they forgot to tell the girls who dropped them early and then had to accept a PBP snap bid when they were cut by all the other houses.

AOII is not the newest house on campus. They came back in 2002, and APhi came back in 2006.

That was before my time for both of them. Needless to say, neither have much of a long history at OU. Check back in 90 years or so. See where they are after being here 100 years or so.

You're both kind of right. AOII is the newest chapter to join OU. Alpha Phi was here before and nationals took away their charter for poor recruiting. Now they have come back, so this is really their second start.

There are a handful of sororities at OU that have been here over a 100 years and have made a legacy for themselves on this campus. They have involved, dedicated alums and generations of family members.
