What it means to have a “foundation”

I’ve noticed some of the houses featuring the fact that their house has its own foundation with their letters (think like The Alpha Beta Gamma Foundation) and I know I was confused as to why that was important or significant when is was going through rush. It basically means the house or nationals gets to choose what it does with it’s philanthropy money. The other houses give to actual nonprofit organizations and the other groups have the option to donate to their philanthropy, funnel it back into their organizations for scholarships, or anything else at their discretion.
Basically you could be donating for a certain cause and then the money could actually go to paying one of their members’ tuition.

wow! I have always wondered why some greek life's philanthropy has the organization's name in. This just shows how selfish "philanthropy work" can be, by funneling it back into your chapter it seems selfish and misleading for the people who donate under the pretense of that non-profit. Instead of the personal gain of the greek orgs.

OP is seriously so utterly pathetic that they’re digging this deep to try and put down another chapter regarding a foundation. I say unless you personally know where they do and don’t spend their money you don’t get to make assumptions on where they do. And also quit replying to your own post as if you’re someone else.
