Houses ranks and why

Let’s be honest! Things have changed after this last fall rush, and it’s not a negative thing; it just shows that we have a strong greek system at OU! Kappa and Theta both Are very desirable houses during rush for most girls. A huge portion of the girls they give bids to are legacies or very high quality girls in terms of grades, involvements, maybe money, and looks. Same thing goes for ChiO, a lot of girls dream of having that name on their schedules when they get their papers back. They take a lot of legacies and have a high standard for girls they give bids to. ChiO will very much still remain a “top” house because it’s very desired by man girls going through rush. As for PiPhi and Tridelt, they also have a standard for girls they give bids to. Although, they aren’t as desired by PNM’s as much as the other top 3 are. They also take a fair amount of legacies and base their bids off of looks and possibly money. AXO and APhi are each great houses as well, but are more so the “little sister” to the top houses. Girls going into rush don’t really have a burning desire for these houses unless they are a legacy. AXO definitely has more of a variety of girls in terms of personalities and looks which is definitely not a bad thing. They still have standards, but aren’t necessarily as high as the top houses. APhi has a persona and reputation for taking mostly blonde, skinny girls which visually seems to be true. It’s not a bad thing, either. This house gets rained on a lot, but it really is the epitome of what sorority like looks like and that’s why so many girls wouldn’t mind being an APhi if they were turned away from other houses. Getting into the mid to lower tiers, there has been some changes. GPhi has remained the notorious “middle” house for many years which isn’t a bad thing. They have great girls in their house which includes more of a variety. These girls vary in looks and personalities, making them more of the “artsy” house. GPHi is a mid tier because they aren’t desired through rush, unless of course, you’re a legacy. They also don’t make a lot of cuts. AOPi has slowly begun to improve, starting with their new PC. They have remained at the bottom for a while, but surely are low mid tier now. They also don’t have very high standards for girls and are very accepting of everyone. They don’t cut much but the girls they do get and have gotten this last year are awesome. They also aren’t a desired house during rush, but still get great girls in the end. DG has definitely changed after this last rush. They were more flexible in giving bids, but that’s definitely not a bad thing. They are necessarily a desired house, but if given, girls would pick it over the others. They have a huge variety of girls which makes it easy to find your place in the house. AGD is a great house and is very generous in giving bids. The girls that they get are there for the sisterhood which is what sorority life should be. They are not a desired house during rush, but many girls find their place in it in the end.
A lot of the sorority rankings also has a lot to do with how many cuts are being made and who’s cutting them. Top houses are known for making the most cuts, and the mid to bottom are known for making little to none. A lot of girls also cut houses on their own which also clarifies the “desired” house situation, which is what gives the houses their rankings.
