how to get the bid

by:

So going through recruitment as a sophomore would I have a chance? I know lots of girls in different houses, my gpa is only a 3.25, but I’m super involved on campus and I would consider myself to be a social butterfly. Would I have a chance? Tell me how brutal it is.

I did rush as a sophomore, but as a sophomore transfer. I had a pretty good experience, coming in with a good gpa but minimal involvement. 3 of the 5 “top” houses cut me on day one, which I was expecting since it is harder to get a bid as a sophomore (harder than I expected after experiencing round 1). However, not that this matters all that much, I did have an almost full schedule on each day, at most lacking 1 spot. I didn’t trust the process at first because I was set on 2 top houses and 2 middle houses from day one. The 2 top houses I was set on were 2/3 that cut me after the first round. However I still had both of the middle houses. I was a little let down but trusted the process and am so happy where I am at. As long as you are honest with yourself and all the girls rushing you, you WILL end up in your place ❤️ It’s so important to stay OPEN to everyone. I ended up falling in love with a house I was not expecting at all. Don’t listen to other girls or rankings on here or your friends you have in the houses, go with your gut. We are all equals no matter the letters a girl wears around. Have fun!!

Not going to lie though, rush is brutal. It’s tiring, emotionally draining, judge mental, over all not a very good time. What made it a good time was meeting all the girls and making friends with girls that rushed me in houses, even if I got cut. It’s hard to make it enjoyable but it’s doable. Don’t take things too personally, go to sleep as early as you can (you’ll need it), eat well, socialize, and end the night with something you enjoy doing a lot like Netflix or talking to someone on the phone. That’s how to make it a good time but it’s definitely not a fun experience someone would willingly choose to go through again. Sorry if that scares you, that was not my intention. I just find it important to be as blunt as possible because people weren’t with me and sugarcoated it and I was completely shell shocked. Take my advice, I promise it works!!

You can make up for your gpa by the conversations you have with the girls! Plus I’m sure if you’re involved that will be even better!
