everyone knows i’m a legacy

by: Yikes

My sister is in a sorority at a “rival” school, and because my high school has a lot of girls in sororities - there are a lot of girls at OU that know I’m rushing as a legacy. While I’d love to be in my sister’s sorority, I know her sorority is very competitive at OU (and who knows if it’s even right for me!). I want to go in with an open mind, but do you think the other sororities will be “open” if they have heard thru the grapevine that I’m a legacy? Thoughts on how I should handle it?

I was a legacy to a top house at OU, but I knew I probably wasn't a fit there. I had friends in other houses I was interested in and straight up said "Do not cut me because I'm a legacy." If you don't know girls in other houses you can tell this to that's okay, but make it very clear to the girls rushing you that you have an open mind. Don't try to hide the fact that you're a legacy because they already know, so instead be upfront about the fact that you're not set on any house. I am in the house I wanted which is NOT my legacy house because I did this.

One more thing: if your mom has any connections to moms of girls in other chapters have her on the phone calling them and telling them. Be as proactive as possible!
