But you'll be more comfortable where you do have a connection. Or if you don't have one, you'll need to make connections during the week of recruitment.

At this point you have them or you don't.
But think of it as a extra rec letter. When someone asks "Does anyone know PNM #637?" If someone speaks up it is just additional information they have. In some cases it can help, in others it can hurt. If you have a connection and you get cut, don't think it had anything to do with your connection. Not all members have an equal voice, sometimes no one asks and some members are too shy to speak up. There are hundreds of names to discuss. Some girls get lost in the numbers.
Member selection is private and can be different for each group. But this is a pretty safe explanation.
