sophomore pnm needs honest opinion
by: OusophHi All, I'm excited to rush this year. I wasn't very interested last year, but now I'm eager to get involved and make new friends. Unfortunately I only know a few girls in sororities. Can you share your opinion on how much this will hurt my ability to get a bid? I read something about quotas and I think sororities have a limit on number of sophomores they can recruit. I have a good GPA & resume, but I'm a little shy and didn't make many friends at OU last year. Will sororities consider sophomores that they didn't know before recruitment? Thanks!

You are going to need to practice your social skills. I know you're shy, but you need to practice talking to strangers. Try some people at church or camp or wherever you are. If you're at home, bake some brownies and take some to neighbors you don't know and get to know them. If you want to have friends you're going to have to be able to talk to the girls recruiting you or you won't make an impression.
