recruitment horror stories?
by: Need a laughNo matter if you were a PNM or active member, what are some horror stories you might have? Worst thing someone said to an active member during recruitment? Something a PNM accidentally said, did, or heard during recruitment? Anything along those lines.

I'm hoping that this doesn't turn into a way to blast sororities. It's going to be much classier to leave the name of the house off and just write ABC or XYZ. If someone does blast a house, you can be pretty sure it's a good house that competes with the house the hater is in.

I already knew which house I wanted because certain girls from my school were in that house. During pref they were already sure I was going to be in their house (probably had no basis, but that's how they acted). Anyway instead of talking about what they were supposed to they were kind of gossiping about another girl in the house they felt sorry for because she was poor and she was dating a house boy who must also be poor too. It really turned me off and I chose the other house I had as my top house after pref even though going into the night I'd been sure I was going with the house I'd always wanted. I hadn't paid too much attention to my other house so it was sort of random but I've completely loved it and can't imagine being anywhere else. I'm so glad my hs friends showed their true colors before I committed.

I had a house tell me they’d see me on bid day and they cut me. This particular house is known for doing that. And it was a huge blessing because I would have hated that house because they are known for being super cliquey. So pay attention to what is said to you and know if they are making promises to not trust that...they can’t promise anything and shouldn’t.

During recruitment I had a “top house” and a “bottom house” and sadly my mentality at that time was to be at the top. The top house every round had me talk to several girls and even their president so I felt that I was guaranteed a bid. On the last round I was cut from the “top house” and I cried so much because I liked both houses I had but I cared more about the “rankings” at that time. I ended up running back to the other house I had and for a month I tried to convince myself that it wasn’t for me bc I was “too good to be in a bottom house”. Luckily, my mentality changed and the house I ended up in made me super happy to be in. The “top house” I had ended up having a lot of issues and on campus incidents. To this day I’m so thankful for my house and the fact that the other house cut me. In my eyes they’re better than being in a top house

Thanks for bringing this point up!! I do not want this post to cause blasting or drama !! Please keep frats/sororities anonymous. There is no need to mention the house. Just want some laughs from funny stories and I know other people wouldn’t mind a laugh either :). Always remember: PAN LOVE <3
