alpha phi
by: not forgotten
I'm sorry that this message has gotten lost in the whole cyber bullying debacle, but this is a message that needs to get out there. The Alpha Phi sorority has publicly written that they don't want to pledge any women of color because it would taint their house. You can read about it in the OU Daily in an article written by an Alpha Phi herself. I feel like we need to let Alpha Phi know that this behavior isn't acceptable in the 21st century. And I'm not from one of your sororities, so don't beat up on any house. I'm actually just a woman who doesn't like being judged solely for the color of her skin.
It is still relevant because girls that were in the house then are the leadership of the house now and nothing's changed.

I'm an alpha phi and I can say that the article posted in the OU daily is not only extremely sad, but inaccurate of the views of alpha phi. Please tell me you dont actually believe that a house with over 300+ girls all have the same view point on race right? That's completely absurd.

I think this should not be taken as a chance to bash other people or their houses. Whether or not one Alpha Phi or the whole house feels like this against people of color, the message should be taken seriously. One person felt strongly enough about people of color to allow a reporter to write about it. We're in the 21st century.

You have been Kappa tonight, and Gamma Phi. Earlier it was Theta, Gamma Phi, and Chi O. Now you're taking on Alpha Phi???? Why don't you just go study and leave the OU sorority houses alone? You are demonstrating sociopathic behavior. Please try to stop yourself.

Agree. This is fact, not opinion. It is bullying to say that a house is on social probation when it isn't. It is bullying to say that they are renting girls from other chapters to do their recruitment when they obviously aren't. It's bullying to say that a house is the most hated one at OU when they obviously aren't. It is bullying to say anything that isn't the truth.
The Alpha Phi article was written by a girl in the house who was so disgusted by the house that she felt compelled to reveal the reason they had no African American women in their house. It was verified and published by a reputable source.
Is it embarrassing for Alpha Phi? I would imagine it is. But that doesn't make it bullying to bring it up.
