is this true?
by: pnmI'm rushing in the Fall and I heard that you won't get kappa unless you're from Edmond OK, is this true? I'm a double legacy from Kansas and I really really want to go Kappa. If there's a chance I won't get Kappa I probably won't come to OU. I'm really pretty (not to be conceded) and I have a pretty good resume. Will someone just tell me honestly if I'll get it because if not I'm going to start looking for a roommate for KU lol.

Don’t go into rush for a specific sorority. You need to find your best fit based on personality. In the end, I’m sure you rather be in a sorority where you enjoy the girls and make best friends rather than just rushing a sorority with girls you don’t get along with just because you are a legacy (not saying kappa isn’t fit for you just putting that possibility out there). Looks only go so far and legacies don’t always get you a guaranteed bid. Do yourself a favor and go into it with an open mind, it may pay off in the end. Oh, and if OU is truly where you want to go then go there because you fill find your perfect sorority no matter if it is kappa or not (as long as you go in with an open mind). Don’t switch your college based on your chance of rushing a certain sorority. Best of luck.

Kappa takes lots of girls from other places than Edmond, there are lots of out of state girls in every sorority! Kappa is really hard to get a bid from, but if you are a legacy and you have a great resume you might have a good chance! Kappa values involvement, looks, and status--and they are considered the "wealthy" house on campus, so they value money as well. Kappa is a top house, but they are also known for having a bit of a mean girl problem and lots of drama within the house. If this doesn't sound like a place you'd fit in, you should definitely go in with an open mind. Every sorority at OU is great and you will find your place if you decide Kappa isn't for you.
But if you truly have your heart set on Kappa, I will tell you that you'll need a good rec letter and connections in the house. If you don't know any Kappas at OU, it may be harder for you. But then again, the legacy thing could really help you out! Good luck!!!

Regardless of whether it’s Kappa or another house, GET RECOMMENDATIONS for every house.
And if you are a strong Kappa legacy, get recommendation letters that back that up.
You will have a better experience if you have done your due diligence regarding recommendations. Start NOW!

Kappa is easy to get a bid from if you have money because literally the girl who had THE WORST reputation with boys from my high school is a Kappa because her family is rich. Now nobody from my high school wants Kappa because they took someone with such an awful reputation! There are things that matter more than money.

So you’re gonna say what a girl does with boys defines her reputation?! Even if she slept around, she could still be a really nice girl. You are so ignorant. Why would Kappa or any sorority care what a girl did in high school?! You are completely ignorant.

I didn't post about the Kappa w the bad rep but do know that sororities try to find out about a PNM's high school reputation and YES, it DOES matter. Most top houses do not want someone who has slept around...not a good look. Maybe you're the ignorant one!

I get it. Girls should be able to do what guys do and not suffer with a bad reputation. Unfortunately our greek system is not quite that evolved yet.

Sometimes they may take 8 or 10 girls from Edmond but sometimes only 1 or 2. It really has nothing to do with Edmond, just who is going through that year
