So, here's the deal. Rush is brutal. Seriously brutal. Just this last year, it was completely exposed how Alpha Phi rushes. If you want to learn the in-depth dirty details, just google Alpha Phi Michigan and you will see the "confession" of a former rush chair who spills her guts about how Alpha Phi rushes. Your bible study group, your grades, your charity work in the Honduras. None of that $hit matters. Are you hot? If not, set your expectations LOW ... very low. Alpha Phi definitely has a national strategy that is brutal when it comes to selecting pretty much solely on your appearance. Not that it totally works for them, because they are yet to break into the top house category. But, they certainly aren't on the bottom either. Truth be told ALL of the houses likely judge you on appearance, but some more than others. If this doesn't bother you, great! You're all set. But, just be warned that even if you get past the gauntlet that we call Recruitment, the judgment continues once you sign on the dotted line. Sorority life can be fun and so rewarding , but it is also VERY shallow. Your best prep to get into a "top" house will be things like: get a great colorist to do your hair, get the best tan of your life, teeth whitening, INVEST in your clothing, and for the love of all that is holy, CLEAN UP YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA. You need to be Insta Fabulous. Use a good filter on your shots. Make sure that your Insta page is well curated with excellent photos of you that prove you are an "it girl". You may want to have a photographer really get some great photos of you starting NOW. They are looking at you on social media NOW.
I hope you can be brave though. Be brave enough to pick a chapter that doesn't care about your looks. Pick the nice girls. It might be house that doesn't have as many members, or doesn't have the prettiest girls. They may not be in the best outfits or have the best "presentation", but you will likely find a group of girls that aren't superficial and will treat you like a person.
