2019 rush
by: hs seniorHi everyone! I decided to attend Greek Preview Day today, and I plan on rushing this fall. Is there anything I should look for while rushing? I know I need to make sure I fit in well with the girls, but I want everyone's opinions on the houses. All of the girls today seemed so nice and I have no idea how I am going to choose between them in the fall.

The best thing for you truly to do is stay off this site, focus on getting your rec letters, and make decisions in the fall. This website will give you nothing real about any of the houses. I promise just focusing on what you want will help you to end up in the perfect house for you!!

Have your mom join the FB group “It’s All Greek To Me” this will give you SOOOOO many tips on rushing!! You can also post what houses you need recs from and alumni will have you send a resume and write it out!! Also for recs post on fb and check with hs teachers!

During rush, be sure to keep an open mind--I know its cliche but very important! During rush, pay attention to how the sorority girls interact with each other, or how close they seem to each other, this can show you what their sisterhood is like. And on pref night, be sure to look around at the other PNMs to see if they are girls you can see yourself being friends with. These girls could become your PC and you will spend a lot of time with them, so if they don't look like your crowd, you might rethink your decision.

Thanks for your input!! These are some things that I would have never thought about, and sisterhood is important to me since I won’t know anyone going in lol

To me (since you're asking this on GR) the most important thing is to ignore GR. All of the certainty you hear on this site about the actual ranks and the importance of ranks is bs. Even if you see it 1,000 times, it's really just the same alums and moms hoping to trick girls into wanting houses for the wrong reasons. Be aware of this.

I agree—ignore the ranking, but other advice can be good. Also you can read a lot about the process on Greekchat. It’s mostly moms and grandmas but they have some good explanations of the system. Just read a lot and also check out door chants on YouTube so you don’t get freaked out. It’s crazy

Thank you for your input!! I am a first generation student so I need all of the advice I can get lol. Do you know how I can get rec letters? I tried asking around but I could only find one person to write me one.
