sorority selection advice!!
by: HS senior
Hi PNM here! I was wondering what the most important factor to consider would be when deciding on a sorority outside of conversations. All help appreciated!
(Currently favoring Pi Phi and AOii)

Hi! My advice would be to choose a sorority that you can truly see yourself in and you think you will enjoy the other girls---don't pick a house just because of top house status or whatever, because you could end up miserable! Honestly though, go in with an OPEN MIND. I know everyone says this but it's truly important. You never know what's gonna happen during rush so it's better not to have your heart set on a particular house. ALL of the chapters at OU are great, and you are lucky to get a bid from any house!! Also, in the later rounds of rush (especially pref night), look around at the other PNMs and see if they are the kind of girls you fit in with. Because you will be spending most of your time with your pledge class, not the girls rushing you! Choose the sorority where you think you'll fit in and where you feel most welcomed and at home.

First, you need to understand that the sororities do the choosing, not you. Don't take it personally when houses you really like drop you. Second, when you do have options at pref, trust your feelings and only your feelings; forget about anything that others are saying, including this site.

While I don't disagree that she will be spending a lot of time with her pledge class, there is plenty of time to be spent with older or younger girls as well. It totally depends on the friendships and the connections made within the house.
