how to be top tier
by: Real TalkHow can one avoid getting chosen for alpha omicron pi and alpha gamma delta? I really don’t want those houses when I rush in the future. I also am not interested in alpha chi or delta gamma. Drop tips on how to get a bid for the top houses.

Please open your mind a little bit and be open to all the houses--it will make rush so much easier for you. Rush this year was extremely difficult and really good girls still ended up in AOPi and Alpha Gam, so those houses got relatively good pledge classes this year. And I know tons of people who ended up in Alpha Chi, DG, AOPi, and Alpha Gam--and everyone I know really loves their house!!! One thing I learned is to trust the process. The process sucks, but everyone really does end up where they belong. I can't name a single person who doesn't love the house they ended up in! Some girls prefer lower or middle tier houses to top houses, so a top house doesn't guarantee a great greek experience. Sometimes you find your place somewhere else.
There really aren't tips I can give you to get a "top house" specifically, but I can give you tips to make sure rush goes as well as it can for you! Definitely be yourself, because if you try to be someone you're not during rush, you won't end up in the right place for you. Be conversational and smile a lot. Always ask the members questions too and don't let the conversation be one-sided. And resumes are extremely important!!! Because this is how houses pre-determine the girls they potentially want. More involvement and leadership and great academics make you a lot more likely to get a house!
And if you get cut from a lot of houses, don't take it personally. Even if you have one house on your schedule in round 2, you should be proud of yourself that a house wants you! And if you have to go back to houses that you "cut," keep an open mind as your opinion can always change! Be respectful to all houses at all times and make every house feel like you'd be lucky to get them!

You'll get the full sorority experience in whichever house you end up in. Some houses are top because they are favored by certain groups of girls. There is no one top house and you'll see all the arguments on here about even what the top houses are. Where I'm from Tri Delta is the top house but girls are not disappointed if they get Theta, G Phi, Chi O, Kappa, or Pi Phi. But there are other groups of girls who are disappointed if they don't get Kappa, for example. This year DG and AXO have done well. A Phi is one of those that girls either really like or really dislike. The ones that you see on here as bottom houses, AOPi and AGD are dearly loved by the girls in those houses and they participate in all greek activities and have a great time. One of my friends who's now graduated got AGD and it was her last choice. She ended up being president and LOVING her sorority. So please, don't worry about what tier your house is in. I promise they're all great.

I agree with this post. Be careful to have such a close-minded attitude because I know so many girls who pledge what is considered a "top" house and hate it! Go in with an open mind and find the place where you fit. And many of the so-called "middle" tier houses are on the rise because there are some real problems in some of the "top" houses. And with so many great girls going through recruitment these middle-tier houses are getting GREAT girls! Be open and enjoy the process
