how is suiciding riskier?

by:

I only like one house left out of my two. I really do not connect with the other two and I’m so surprised they still want me because it’s so boring over there. I have a feeling they’re still going to invite me back just to make quota so how is it that if I keep one house left if I make it to pref night that it reduces my chance of being in the house I like? Because I know if I only get my favorite one house left for pref night that I’m gurantyed in the house.

You have to accept all of your invites back each round in order to be guaranteed a bid after Pref. It's called maximizing your options. Definitely talk with your RG. They should know this.

I would suggest keeping an open mind. The girls are different when they aren't in "Sales" mode. Ask lots of questions. And try to look beyond the pitch. Some girls are betters sales people. But the products are all quality at OU.

You should drop out of Recruitment. That post sounded like it was made by a 12 year old. You're probably not ready for sorority life.

I'd honestly just drop out.

You will have friends, classmates, teammates etc in your so called "bottom houses". And if you think you are too good for them you might want to think a little harder. Rankings don't matter except to Freshmen going through rush and a few insecure people. If anyone knew you thought that way they would all cut you. Seriously. There is more Pan Love on campus than this site reflects. There are schools with "bottom houses". OU isn't one of them. Every group has hundreds of smart, pretty girls. We know this because we have friends in all these groups.

don’t suicide, you most likely will not get a bid if you do. go to both parties and if you end up not getting a bid from the house you want then drop and do spring rush. please go to both parties and don’t suicide because i did this last year and ended up without a bid, when if i just would’ve gone to both houses i probably would have got a bid from the house i wanted

How does not suiciding increases your chance? It’s really confusing

Because it’s viewed as maximizing your options. it’s weird and i don’t understand the whole process but if you suicide you prob won’t get a bid. if you continue through rush you have a chance of getting the house you want

You should really ask someone from Pan. But... it doesn't increase your chances that I know of. You would still need to be at the top of that groups list to get a bid either way. It just means you won't get a bid to the other house.

If you were not at the top of either groups bid list you MIGHT get your first choice if you maximize your options. I don't see a scenario where suiciding ever helps you. But if you don't plan to accept a bid to group B, by all means do it. The girls at these houses are excited to see you on bid day. Like really excited. The house you got a bid to actually wants you. That should make you feel good. So in my mind better that you just drop than no show.

If you maximize your options and you don't initially match with either house, you would be a quota addition for your 1st choice. If you suicide and you don't initially match with that house, you get nothing. You don't qualify to be a quota addition unless you maximize your options.

You will only get a bid from your favorite if you would have anyway. If you don't suicide and you're on the 2nd list of both, you'll probably get a bid from your favorite. You need to be mature enough not to throw a fit if you don't get your favorite. You need to be mature enough to really invest some time and care into your new sisterhood regardless of which one you get. If you're too immature to do that, drop out now.
