rushing with no recs

How do you know that you were cut because of not having recs? Also, how would the girls know if you have one or not since we are suppose to send them before rush? Thanks

Rec forms are usually turned in by an alumnae member of the group to the chapter, not by you. My experience is that only a small number of members (the recruitment officer/team/alum advisor) see the actual recommendation forms. When the chapter does membership selection each day after the last party is over they go over who attended and discuss each girl. When that is finished the chapter submits their next invitation list and the computer program matches each chapter's invitations with the PNMs rank orders. At some point in the week (earlier if it's a strong recruiting chapter and later if not) the house will not invite girls back who don't have a recommendation, OR they will get on the phone and try to find an alum who will write one if they want you badly enough. Don't count on that happening - there are too many girls who show up prepared and the active members are too exhausted for this to be a common thing. There are a couple of houses that allow current active members to write recommendations but I don't know which ones they are.

Even though this may feel personal, it's not. Most chapters have recruitment policies about this, and it's kind of like applying for a scholarship that has specific GPA requirements like "must have 3.50 GPA and have 4 years High School Orchestra." If you don't have both, you get cut for that scholarship. It doesn't mean you are not good enough, you just didn't meet the requirements for that particular scholarship.

Ask your teachers, your parent's friends, your church, etc. Put something on Facebook that you are going thru recruitment and need recs for the groups on the OU campus. Read some of the other threads here; there is some good advice mixed in with the drama.

Because I was only cut by the three houses I did not have Recs for. So it’s just an assumption yes, but I’m just saying try to get Recs so you don’t even have to worry about anything!
