Have good grades, a good resume, recs for all the top houses, and it really helps if you know girls. Of course, you may only have a few of these things, but the more of this stuff you have the better your chance.

Don't talk about religion, politics, your boyfriend, partying, or how rich your dad is. Have some questions to ask that will help you make up your mind about the house. Practice making good conversation -- every girl you meet may ask you if it's still hot outside. Make sure you can smile and have a nice response each time. Each day choose a favorite house out of the ones you have left. You may have not been invited back to your top 5, but being in a house is way more fun than not. All the stuff you read or hear about top houses has to do with the choices the houses make (are they looking for national merit and valdictorians? activities? PLC? singers and dancers? debutauntes?) You can't control what they're looking for and you can't change what you are at this point. Be aware that the girl who rushes you might tell you goodbye and that she can't wait to see you tomorrow. She's speaking for herself, not the house. No one girl knows who will be invited back because it's a decision of the entire sisterhood that goes on after all the rushees have left. So don't get upset if you don't get invited back. Choose a new favorite each day if you have to. And when bid day comes, regardless of whether you get a bid from your top house or bottom house, be enthusiastic. You get out of it what you put in.

The only thing YOU can do is have good grades, a good reputation, come in with a positive attitude and try your hardest! A lot of houses (including my own) already have a good idea of who they want before rush even starts. So don’t get upset if you get cut from the house you really wanted. If you are gorgeous, have a lot of money and know a lot of the girls, you will get a top house. It may seem like “dirty rushing” but it’s honestly just how it goes and has been for a while. With all that being said, all the houses are great and if you don’t get a top house it’s okay! Just keep going and you’ll find your place.

gonna be honest here. unless you know a kappa you won’t get kappa. unless you are super smart or have a lot of money you won’t get theta. unless you are a barbie or rich you won’t get chi o. So try hard for houses like Apha Chi, Tri Delt, Pi Phi, A phi, g phi and dg! those houses usually end up getting a lot of girls that are cut from the first three houses i named. take this from a girl who went through rush and got promised a house and didn’t get them on bid day!!

Do you need recommendation letters to get in a house? Which sorority houses drop you immediately if you do not have one?

Chi O is actually one of the houses most girls don't want. You probably already know that Chi O isn't one of the best houses, but for girls who aren't as aware, the Chi Os are on here 24 / 7 trying to trick girls into thinking they are. Kappa and Theta are great. So is Tri Delta. Most girls during recruitment think Pi Phi and G Phi are next. Then DG and AXO are next followed by AP and XO. Everyone has their preferences, but this is generally what people think regardless of the lyin' Chi Os.

No one thinks GPB is a top house just wait til you meet them. Seriously this is pathetic. You need to stop embarrassing them by claiming they are a top house OR if you are their member you need to do a reality check. Either way you really need to stop. I’m not sure if I’m more embarrassed for GPB or just sad they have no respect for their own house regardless of rank.

I think it's funny that someone is so worried about wanting girls to choose her house that she feels the need to protest that a certain house isn't a top house, regardless of what other people think. I suggest you think for yourselves (but it is a good idea to meet the girls first then make up your mind).

^ no you don't need recs to get into a house. some require it and if you don't have one they will write one for you!!!!

you will need refs for tri delt, theta, kappa, alpha chi, and pi phi! i know these houses look at them the most. try to get as MANY as you can and make sure they are well put together

OU Greek Life will tell you that recs aren't required to go thru recruitment, and they are correct. However, if you actually want to get a bid you will need some kind of recommendation for every house on campus; it's usually a form specific to that group. Only a couple of groups allow active members to write recommendations, most require that it comes from an alum, and lots of NPC groups have moved to online rec forms. For many houses the return rates are high enough that they won't try to get a rec for you if you don't already have one - grades and no rec cuts are typically early in the week. Start by asking your teachers, have your mom ask her friends, and ask at your church if you attend one. Try to find out if you have a local Alumni Panhellenic group in your area. Check Facebook for this - most larger cities like OKC, Tulsa, Dallas, etc have them. They usually offer recruitment workshops in the Spring and are also a source for recommendations.

Focus on the things you can control now - grades, activities & interests, conversation, good reputation, etc. Put together clothes for each day that fit you and don't have the 'too' factors of too tight, too low, too short, etc. The advice above about picking a new favorite each day is solid. It's a hard, emotionally & physically exhausting week for both sides. If the houses you think of as 'top' houses drop you after first rounds keep going - you aren't going to magically get offered a bid from them if you drop out, and they probably won't do open rush past bid day.

Truth is kappa theta chio tridelta and piphi are the hardest houses to receive bids from so maybe you get a bid from one of those houses and maybe you don’t or maybe you don’t even care for those house and prefer another but honestly with houses having 300 members and pledge classes of approx 80 do the math it’s not easy getting in any of the houses not just those five

Truth is that Chi O can't tell the truth about anything. Chi O is a second rate house that struggles against the top houses. But they do have the biggest PR machine at OU -- too bad it's all alums -- the girls are not as excited. Oh well. If you believe the stuff you read on greek rank you deserve what you get.

Notice that again, the chio is on here promoting her own house and trying to confuse you by naming some other good houses with "chio" squashed right in the center. She's a little obvious.........

said the girl posting on Greek rank... looks like she should have taken her own advice... I’m sure she wasn’t cut by ChiO or bitter hahahaha

Agree. Hardly anyone is cut by Chi O anymore so you're probably right.

The above ^^^ comments are all helpful, but I’d add to that BE GENUINE! SMILE! And don’t be afraid to make good conversation. Sorority members get tired near the end—and they welcome and remember PNMs who come in with enthusiasm and are good conversationalists.

GOOD LUCK to all you ladies rushing this fall. And PLEASE—stay off this site during recruitment; it’s vicious.
