That is what everyone is saying. They may have found out about the hazing practices.

Lawsuit filed against Beta. Lawsuit claims that a member of the fraternity hit a pledge with a baseball bat. When will OU and Nationals step in to stop all hazing. Supposedly, they are earning the privilege to wear the letters. Grow up young men! Make it a requirement for there to be adult supervision to be at all pledge functions. Also, all frats and sororities have parties that underage drinking occurs because they bus people to the destination to the party. When will OU officials quit turning a blind eye to everything.

It appears there was adult supervision. The suit aleges adults/alums were present.

They're too big and their alumni are too strong for that to happen

I read that he wasn't even in Norman when he alleges it happened. Maybe he's just trying to get some free money.

That is the same thing they said about SAE. Beta nationals are under extreme pressure do to Penn State. They were huge up there and one alumni gave 18 million dollars. They are closed down!!!

Are we sure it was hazing? Making people memorize facts before initiation is fine. Getting hit accidentally happens. Other people giving advice to shut up about stuff is common. Let's let things play out before we jump to conclusions.

What happened at PSU is a non-factor. If that's what you're basing your opinion on you're wrong.

You're jumping on the bandwagon. Yes, of course hazing must stop but this doesn't really seem like hazing to me. Maybe the blindfolding part but even the Chi Os have to be closed in a coffin. So I don't think that part is too serious. The baseball bat was accidentally thrown according to the young man who filed the lawsuit. Not hazing. Having to memorize facts about your house? Not hazing. Being told not to tell anyone something? Bad judgement but not hazing. I just don't see it. Hazing is wrong but this isn't hazing. (At PSU the young man was made to drink alcohol, fell down the stairs, and wasn't helped. Nothing like that here.)

the issue here is that the fraternity members allegedly physically assaulting the accuser which resulted in physical and mental harm. they then allegedly tried to silence him by threatening him. a much bigger deal than just memorizing frat acts.

Not a Beta so I don't care but it sounds like an accident followed by bad judgement but not hazing. I think he's right (#5) that it's a sad accident but not hazing. Sorry. Just my opinion

He appears to have brain damage. They'll probably settle this out of court to avoid the trial. Won't matter. They'll keep hazing while drunk till somebody dies. Really stupid! And criminal! Where's the DA?

You must be one of those people who knows all the facts because you read about it on facebook. I'm gonna say the DA has had the real facts and if he wants to charge someone he will. He doesn't need your opinions. In fact, you might just want to wait and see what the evidence is before you make up your mind. Or is that too hard for you to do?
