They won't know until a week after spring term when they set total.

There is no formal "spring rush". Chapters will evaluate their numbers in January and if enough members graduated early, transferred, or dropped, they may decide to COB up to the "total" number set by Panhellenic.

COB is an informal, private process. It's very possible for you to sign up with Greek Life office and never hear anything from any chapter. There won't be a formal list of the chapters participating in COB so you won't know who they all are. Chapters who have more than a handful of openings will have a few invitation-only events where the COB pnms can get to know the actives. Chapters who have only 1-2 openings may directly give bids to women who are very close friends with actives - i.e., a roommate who always hangs out with that pledge class.
