sorority questions
by: GreekFuture
1. Is recommendation necessary? If I don't have a recommendation, will I not be considered as much?
2. Is hazing something that happens still, and how bad? Like, is it having to go to a Walmart in your pajamas bad or getting naked and flogged bad? I don't want any sorority secrets, just a heads up.
3. Is GPA strictly enforced? If you're a really good candidate who is very involved in extra curriculars and volunteer work, and maybe you have a great conversation but you're a small amount under the GPA they want.. will they still cut you for GPA?
4. Do legacies matter? I have a legacy but I don't really know if it means anything.

1. Yes. You need recs for every house. If a house falls in love with you they will get a rec, but if they like another girl just as well and she has a rec, they'll go with her.
2. There is no hazing. Pi Phi and Chi O have been accused of hazing but it hasn't proven out.
3. Some houses care about GPA. Some don't.
4. Legacies are tricky. For most houses it just means they'll give you an invite to the second round of parties. That can be good because it gives them more of a chance to get to know you. It can be bad because other houses might drop you because they think you'll join the house where you're a legacy. So be careful what you say.

1.Get recommendations for all the houses or you will be overshadowed upon first round or pre-rounds. Ask local pan clubs, they will usually have people that volunteer time to write them for girls who lack connections
2.Hazing is against OU Pan policy
3.Depends on the houses, honestly. Some don't care about grades nor involvement but personality and looks. Others only care about grades and involvement.
4. DO NOT DECLARE LEGACIES. only hurts chances and gives fewer houses back and not guaranteed to get a legacy house. Might tell them during rush you are legacy in their house, but not on app
