going through rush as a transfer

by:

I'm transferring to OU in the fall and I've been going back and forth on whether I want to go through recruitment or not. I really wanted to rush at my current school but I knew I wanted to transfer here so I didn't want to take my chances joining a chapter that wouldn't be at OU. I'm just wondering whether or not it's worth it to rush as a sophomore. Of course I know I won't be guaranteed an invite back to every house and I'm willing to go through the process, but I just want to know if I'll be completely patronized just for being a sophomore

My best advice is go through rush. You will definitely get in somewhere and Greek life is great at OU. Sophomores and even juniors rush every year too so it's not like you'll be the only sophomore. Do rush and if you don't like then drop. Have fun and enjoy it. Their are 18 houses in IFC and all 18 are great in their own ways.

Rushing as a soph at OU was one of the hardest things I did with no outcome..... they don't look at sophomores unless you know someone, even then not always. My advice? make connections with people during first semester at OU and then spring rush. Much more relaxed process and higher probability of getting house. Best of luck!!!!!!! Welcome to OU btw!

Also, keep an eye out for Fall COB!! it usually happens about 2-3 weeks after formal fall recruitment! that is also a way to get in without formal recruitment

I disagree. Why not go through in the fall? If you don't get picked up, you can go through in the spring. Don't throw away opportunities because of fear.
