how are rankings determined?

I know how GreekRank works, but how do the other folks who post lists determine their rankings?
If you say Theta, Kappa, and Tridelt and the top three, on what do you base this?

It is based on how the sororities stack up during recruitment. You look at the girls that every chapter would be thrilled to have - good reputations, social, grades, looks, talent, activities, social connections, etc. There are more of these girls than will fit in one class, obviously. So, you look at which houses those girls go to. There are about 4 houses that this year shared the most of those girls (KAT, KKG, DDD, GPB). This year, surprisingly, some of these houses took girls from the next category (all the things listed above except for having a questionable reputation). The next tier of houses (PBP, XO) take some top girls but more of the QR girls. The next tier of houses (DG, AXO, AP) take girls who fewer of the top qualifications. The bottom tier of girls (AOP, AGD) take girls who have few or none of the top qualifications.

I've heard it has tons to do with getting references to the houses well before recruitment starts. If she didn't, they had virtually no idea of all her accomplishments before, and they saw about a thousand girls that first day. Sad, isn't it?

Yes, there are so many girls that you have to stand out in some way. If no one knows about you and you don't have an outstanding personality, you can get overlooked. The top girls are known because their friends have put posters up all over the house telling people to look out for them.

Top 5 @ OU are: tridelta, kappa, theta, chi omega and pi phi--- another house will try to make you think it's them on this site--- and that's because once you go to their house you'll learn the truth. Good houses don't recruit on this site- they don't have too

Your answer really doesn't make any sense at all. I know someone who graduated number 12 in a high school class of over 500 people, with a 4.6+ weighted, and 3.9+ unweighted GPA. She is also a very beautiful girl with an exceptionally clean reputation. On top of that she had a very high ACT score, received one of OU's top 4 year academic scholarships, and was accepted to the Honor's college. She was extremely involved in many activities in high school and has several talents. She is already involved in a very active organization on the OU campus, yet she was chosen by one of the very bottom houses who you say take the girls with few or none of the top qualifications? This girl has ALL of the top qualifications, except maybe social connections... If what you say is true, then why was she eliminated by all the "so-called" top houses on the very first day? Basically what this says to me is it about who you know.
