I think Phi Mu used to be here and had to close because of low numbers. I've heard KD used to be here too a long time ago. Maybe we should go for a house that hasn't already failed here.

It is a bit strange that there isn't a PhiMu or KD chapter at OU. Zeta would also be a great house to have.

It's not at all strange. I just looked it up. Phi Mu has tried three times at OU and has closed three times. Zeta and KD have also been here and have had to close. Alums are obviously reluctant to come up with the money it would take to open a new chapter and buy a house and everything when there is a history of failure.

That was probably before the new release methods were instituted during recruitment. Now it is designed to give houses more of a fair shot.

No alums want to spend that much money to open a chapter when it's already failed. That's taking a huge chance.

They do - theta failed at arkansas as well as DG and DG is coming back so you never know. I think it depends on the culture and climate of the greek system. I think we could handle a new sorority here but I would not want to try an implement a new sorority at SMU or UT - the environment is to toxic for a new sorority to survive.

I just don't think they will since they've already been here and not done well. Nothing is impossible though. I think it's more likely that they'd choose some house that is new to OU.

When a Panhellenic community feels like they're ready for a new house, they announce that they're open for expansion. Any sorority can submit an introduction packet about their organization and how they would colonize. Panhellenic then votes on which organizations they'd like to hear more from and invites those orgs to campus for interviews. Panhellenic listens and votes of which one to invite to their campus.
In other words, unless you're a Panhellenic representative at the right time, you have absolutely nothing to say about it.
