by: ElleI am currently in a "mid-tier" house, and my sister was in a different house a few years ago. Here's the thing - rankings change every few years. Ultimately, it doesn't matter. Unless someone gets kicked off campus or something like that, house rankings are ever-changing but at the same time consistent through the years. There's the strongest top-tier (in no order) - Theta, Kappa, DDD, and Pi Phi. There's this weird top/mid-tier that fluctuates from year to year with G Phi and Chi O. The mid-tier - AXO, DG, and A Phi. Then the bottom with AOPi and AGD. When my sister rushed, A Phi and AOPi had only had a few pledge classes. They were both bottom of the bottom taking every single girl they could because they were new. Fortunately, both houses have done better, though in different ways, in recent years. Chi O and G Phi both got the same girls as all the top houses when my sister rushed; now, it's a toss up on what girls they get. It's stupid to sit here and say with absolute conviction that this house or that house is not a top house or never will be because you NEVER know how things will change over the years. Also, like my sister always tells me, none of it really matters after college so don't waste so much energy on it. What matters is the friends you make and hands you shake no matter what house you're in. So, be kind to all houses because someday those girls might be your coworker or in a group that you're in or something like that!

Chi O hasn't been a part of the top tier since at least the early 2000s. I have had an aunt and 3 cousins go through OU and we were talking about how things had changed 4th of July. At no time was Chi O ever considered top or even some weird middle-top whatever that is. A Phi has always been considered lower middle or bottom. Sorry but G Phi has always been considered a top to right out of the top on a bad year.
I'm tired of the whole bash G Phi thing. They're a great house. Get over it.

I actually think G Phi and Chi O are both great houses, but from our experiences and the girls we know, they both fall under that category. Fortunately for Chi O, they're a huge sorority nationally, thus are very well known and girls know them before going into rush. G Phi has a beautiful house, and all the girls I know in G Phi are great.

I think all our houses are great and I have friends in lots of them including G Phi and Chi O. As far as knowing about houses, Chi O is probably bigger, but G Phi may be more prestigious because they're older and an original member of panhellenic which Chi O is not. I just know from my RhoG group during recruitment which houses girls wanted most and that's where there is not comparison between the houses. I am in a different house but I had G Phi as one of my pref houses and I cut Chi O after the 2nd day (not open houses but the day after they were done). Chi O to me was not as impressive. I'm sure that Chi O cut some girls but I don't personally know any of them :) so I don't know where they would have gone. I myself didn't get cut by any houses which was kind of a miracle :) but girls that got cut by any of the top houses listed cried and I mean Kappa, Pi Phi and the ones I had for pref.

I'm in a top house but I won't say which one. We consider the top 4 in no order- Kappa, PiPhi, Theta, Tridelt. We and my friends in those houses consider GPB #5... But slightly out of top tier range. Then AXO, DG, APhi are all about the same and very strong or as strong as GPB for different reasons. Usually, the mid tier girls just lacked slightly in an area- grades, test scores, involvement, looks, connections, too shy, etc. Honestly, we just don't really consider ChiO at all. Most of their girls are QRs and are released after the 1st round and definitely after the 2nd. AOPi and AGD are both doing well this year and hope they continue to get fun girls.

Ok I'm coming about this from a different perspective. When we have a party guys usually ask girls from Ddd, Gpb, Kat, Kkg, and Pbp. When some guy says he's asking a Axo or a Dg, they usually say something like she's a AXO BUT she's really pretty or she's a Dg BUT she was a cheerleader from home. They feel like they have to explain. If a guy asks a girl from Xo or Ap, the other guys laugh because they already know why he's asking a girl from those houses. Tbh no one ever asks girls from Aopi or Agd that I know of. So this is how I'd rank the houses.

Axo, Dg
Xo, Ap
Aop, Agd
