ranking of the sororities at ou
by: OU Pan
First, I am not the Panhellenic adviser at OU. (Just needed to say it because there is some wacko on here who objects to the mention of panhellenic LOL!!!) I'm just a member of a sorority and previous representative to panhellenic. I'm also very involved in CAC and am starting my 4th year here. In other words I know a lot of girls from all the houses.
This is how I would rank the houses based on how much pnms want that house, how they do in campus activities, academics, classiness, accomplishments, personality, and looks. By looks I DON'T mean physical beauty. I mean whether they're put together or sloppy.
Tri Delta and Theta --- Top houses but choose different kinds of girls with Theta going more for academics and Tri Delta more for involvement.
Gamma Phi, Pi Phi, and Kappa ----- Next tier. All good houses but very different. Gamma Phi goes for academics, show and athletic talent, and involvement. Pi Phi goes for involvement, academics, and personality. Kappa goes more for legacy, looks, and connections.
Chi O, DG, AXO ----- Third tier. About the same attractiveness to pnms but very different. Chi O is most into philanthropy, DG into sports, and AXO into social.
AOPi, AGD ------------ I ranked these together but they are possibly the most different of all. AOPi are more random, quirky, and artistic. AGD are into strong sisterhood. AOPis are better looking but that doesn't bother the AGDs. They are getting their new house this year and it should bring them up a lot.

I'd put them with AOII and AGD. They definitely take the best looking of the three houses so people think they're better. The A Phis don't have very much sisterhood though (tons of girls drop out of their house and they're always on the prowl for girls to COB). I've seen some rankings with Chi O in this group too but I don't think they are. I'd put them in the middle group.

How do you know which lists are right? Ask questions. Specific questions.
How did your house place in grades last year? Not are grades important to your house.
Did your house make USING and SCANDALS? How did you place?
How many girls do you have that are in PLC?
Do you have outstanding freshman, sophomores, juniors, BWOC???
When did you last win or place in President's Trophy competition?
Did you win any sports in intramurals?
What girls do you have that chair or co-chair CAC committees or make up a lot of the members?
What's your philanthropy and how much did you raise last year? (Also, did it sound fun???)
What do you do for fun with your sisters? How did you choose your big, little? What's the most meaningful thing to you about your sorority?
You can ask whatever is important to you. Just ask. Then decide. Just be careful about listening critically to the answers. Ask a followup if the girl recruiting you just says things are great or we always do great or our house is HUGE! ha ha!! Also, if it's a house that brags about looks, realize that the 80 pretty girls you see are being backed up by another 200 or more of unattractive girls. I've heard so many new members complain that they thought their house was filled with pretty girls during recruitment only to find all the unattractive ones after they accepted a bid. This doesn't happen in the houses that are known for other things like academics because they're more accepting.

How can Chi-Hoes be mid tier when they have had to snap bid 4 years in a row? They are the ONLY house to do that. For those that don't know- that means they cut girls and then turn around and beg them to accept a snap bid when they are desperate.
