chances of getting into a sorority from california

by: Emily1122

I'm going to ole miss in the fall and will rush. I am from California, but know absolutely nobody from ole miss. So I know that will hurt me having zero connections. I'm a social person, have a 2.9. And very social and nice. Also thin and tall if that helps?? What are my chances? Thank you

Okay honestly. Like I get it. I went to a really tough school. Had the worst year of my life and left that year with a 2.4. Have been making things up from there. Before you're all rude and sassy think about what the other person might have gone through

Unfortunately though you're not going to be able to explain your story for why you got poor grades so honestly it is likely to be held against you, you're a grade risk. If you're pretty maybe one of the bottom tiers will Give you a bid

Your GPA will hurt you more than your geography

Based on your description, Alpha Phi should want to take you. They're focused mostly on looks and less on academics. And they're strong in your home state so that should be good news for you.

Unless you're something really special you'll still need to maybe improve that GPA even for Alpha Phi, everyone has grade cuts

Where you're from won't hurt you. As long as you start making connections once you get to school (or maybe even a few before fall if you can) you will be fine. What will hurt you is your GPA. Even the bottom tier sororities have a strict GPA limit. But overall I wouldn't stress about it too much.
