Fraternity or sorority?

Most chapters, though people will get on here and vehnemently deny it, do spring rush. You can only not do spring rush if your chapter is already at it's chapter total, meaning that each pledge class has a complete number of girls of that original quota for that year. As these sororities are all national sororities, their nationals will want them to have as many girls as possible in order to send in more dues. In order to do spring rush you must be friends with someone in t he sorority, or someone in the sorority thinks you're a good candidate. You have no say in who you will/can spring rush. That is all up to their recruitment team or your friends. Most girls like spring rush because there is not as much stress, though they only get to experience one house and don't get to know other houses. Some houses will advertise their spring rush, and some won't. Some consider it hurting their pride so they keep it secret and deny it but others want many options of girls so they'll advertise it in order to get girls who are going to be a better fit. Unless they advertise it you will not know when their rush is. They are also not required to take a quota. I know my freshman year Pi Phi had spring rush and they had three girls go through, none of them got bids because they were not the correct fit. It depends. Good luck, and my suggestion would be start asking your friends who are in sororities already if they're having it! :)
