out of state, grades, sorority chances?

by: tx16

I'm from Texas and have always wanted to attend Ole Miss, I'm still not 100% sure if I'll be attending there though. I have a little above a 2.9 GPA, however my friend who rushed in Texas said that her college looked at her college GPA (dual credit GPA) if she had a certain amount of credit hours. I was curious if this is the case for Ole Miss or not. I don't have any connections, and having a lower GPA, I'm concerned.

That's low af for any SEC school. I hope you have high test scores or you might not even be admitted. Settle down, crack open a book and raise the GPA!! It's actually are important in college too!!!

And get connections, ask every friends mother, and so on. If you get desperate then reach out to local alumnus councils!

With anything less than a 3.2 gpa, you will need solid connections.

What is the point of college if you don't work hard enough to get decent grades? I guess it's too late to get into a better school but you really shouldn't be choosing a school because of Greek life/social life which I'm fairly sure is the only reason to go to Ole Miss when you're from TX

im an OOS student and active at a top tier house. my gpa was a 3.1 but I was rushed hard by literally every desired house and thought I would have my pick. turns out all my connections wasn't enough due to the gpa alone being "too low" compared to other girls. I got my dream house but only had them left at pref. I was the only grade risk in my house because that's how badly they wanted me.
moral of the story is if you have below a 3.4 then HAVE STRONG CONNECTIONS because you will be cut regardless of how pretty/popular/fun you might think you are. it doesn't matter unless you have more than half the sorority pulling for you #TRUTH
