future
by: CurioisHas it been said whether or not any new sororities are coming n the near future? With pledge classes of 150 and only getting larger, 2 or more are desperately needed.

this has been discussed before in depth but a while back, in early october. The office of greek life said about four years ago that their goal was to add five new sororities within the next fifteen or so years. ADPi was the first, and as we can see, their colonization was successful and their chapter is doing very well. Their recruitment will become more competitive, on the level of Pi Phi and AOPi, especially with Alpha Phi, who was the second sorority added under this plan. Now, we can assume that Ole Miss will announce that they are open for expansion within the next year or so. My money would be on one of the following houses, because they are rich in southern tradition and will have southern alum support.
ZTA- was here before and closed due to low numbers.
AXO- my pick, but they are currently struggling at Arkansas, where they recently colonized
DZ- I'm not sure about the level of alum support, also I believe we passed on them in favor for Alpha Phi
GPB- Gamma Phi is relatively strong in the South, and would be a welcome addition. They aren't really top anywhere though, which may lead to a lower perception of them.
AGD- I know lots of girls from Alabama who are legacies for AGD because their moms went to Alabama/Auburn. I think they would have a lot of support.
Now, the problem is that any new sorority would need a house. Alpha Phi is going across from Pi Phi, and then there's no more room, unless a smaller house is built across from Chi O. A chapter wouldn't...

survive without a house. There were plans to create a new Greek Village, but this would likely move newer sororities over to where the fraternity houses are located. I don't think this would go over well, and the plans stopped moving forward, I'm assuming due to a lack of support.
Also, if I were anyone involved with colonization, I would never want to open a new chapter here at Ole Miss. By looking at this website, it is evident that there is a complete and total lack of Panhellenic support here. Panhellenic needs to really take charge and put a stop to the negativity that is constantly being spread here. Do you know why Theta didn't meet quota? People bad-mouthed them so badly, that girls decided to not be Greek instead of being a Theta. In order for a new chapter to survive here, we need more Panhellenic spirit.
Arkansas had AXO and Phi Mu colonize at the same time. From what I can tell, this was unsuccessful. I think Ole Miss should have a colonization in 2017/2018, after Alpha Phi's house is finished, and follow it up with a new one every 2 years until pledge classes are under 100. We also don't know when this Greek bubble is going to burst, and when the Ole Miss craze is going to end. In ten years, enrollment may go down, and the emphasis on Greek life may dwindle, and we will be stuck with many new chapters who end up struggling, because rush will become easier for the established houses. That being said, for the time being, we need at least two more chapters here.
