gpa for sorority recruitment 2016
by: NewbieI recently was accepted at Ole Miss. I have a GPA of 3.25. I heard that some sororities were cutting based on GPA. Is mine to low based on how competitive rush is at Ole Miss?
#11by: depends
i had a 4.0, recs (but not from ole miss alums), an awesome resume full of leadership and community service, high school awards, you name it. i wouldn't call myself gorgeous by any means, but i am pretty and put-together looking. i had great conversations in every house i went to, and felt confident after leaving all of them. I had 0 connections though. For philanthropy, i was invited back to 7, including two "top" houses, all of the middle, and then some bottom and by skit I only had two houses left. i'm sure if i had connections and was from jackson or memphis, i would have been "the perfect pnm."
long story short, grades are important, but only for the first round of cuts. beyond that, it's pretty much all about connections.

GPA doesn't matter too much. Yours is good enough. What's going to matter MUCH more is how much the girls like you.
The process can be demoralizing but what's important in the end is that you find a good sisterhood for yourself...and all the sororities at Ole Miss have that and very happy members. Even the girls who thought they might be happy in a different house on bid day end up loving their house.
Give the girls who like you and invite you back a chance to show you their sisterhood. It'll be worth it I promise.
#15by: can't stress this enough
A girl on my floor got cut from all of the "top and middle" houses during recruitment mainly due to her lack of connections and the fact that she didn't have any of her recs written from ole miss alumni (so we are all assuming) because her GPA was a 3.8 even though she had a stellar resume.
On the other hand, I had a 3.29 and with lots of connections and recs from ole miss and a great resume & got a bid to a "top" house. It really is all about who you know and connect with in the house before rush because GPA is only a number not really a connection.
