take action
by: EnoughTo the Texas cheerleader being bullied on this site: please go see a lawyer. Libel and slander are against the law and those who are guilty of it can't hide behind anonymity. You can easily get a court order to have the names of your cyberbullies exposed and file a lawsuit against them. Please do! Stand up for yourself and for the thousands of others being bullied on social media sites.

Cyberbullying is an action of harming or harassing via information technology networks in a repeated and deliberate manner. According to U.S. Legal Definitions, "cyber-bullying could be limited to posting rumors or gossips about a person in the internet bringing about hatred in other’s minds; or it may go to the extent of personally identifying victims and publishing materials severely defaming and humiliating them".[1]

Responding to a thread, stating an opinion is not cyber bullying! Nobody was telling lies, nobody was threatening her. There was no slander.
There is a mechanism on this website to remove an offensive post. If the girl had a problem with it, she had every right to take the necessary steps to stop it. She didn't. Looks to me she even contributed a few times.

I know you think you are awesome because you are a pre law student, but you need to do some research.
In the state of Mississippi bulling including cyber bulling Covers conduct that occurs on the school campus, at school-sponsored activities or events (regardless of the location), on school-provided transportation, or through school-owned technology or that otherwise creates a significant disruption to the school environment.
Greek rank is not sponsored by ole miss and Greek rank policies state "Allows entities to host a third-party's content without being held responsible for defamation or libel.
A litigant must prove in court that the need for identifying a user is greater than the value of that user's constitutional right."
Which basically means since the post didn't put her in any danger or no harm came to her because of what was said on this site we are in our first amendment rights to talk freely. (Sure you could argue her "reputation" was ruined, but probably under 100 people saw the post) The post is not permanent and can easily be deleted. Yes posting her name was a bad idea. But let's be honest spending years in court over something silly like Greek rank is a big waste of time.
If it's that big of a problem delete the post and move on.

can people just STOP targeting this girl, and pretending to be her on this website? This is beyond mean. I am sure she is heartbroken she didn't get into the sorority she wanted. The same thing happened to me freshman year, I rerushed and ended up in a house where I felt like it was home. To all the people who are ATTACKING HER, i guarantee y'all have NEVER SPOKE TO HER ONCE IN HER LIFE. She didn't even throw up sorority signs, she just posted pictures and was happy for her friends on bid day. Just let the girl be. I hate the petty drama like this at Ole Miss. We are not in high school anymore.
