have a program against Alpha Phi. You just logged on and made some negative comments and then clicked a few hundred times against Alpha Phi on various posts.

Very sad for you and your outlook on life.

I really hope you are not an admin with this site trying to increase traffic by constantly bashing APhi (among others probably).

It will not be good for your business model.

This trouble maker has been stiring up trouble for some time now!

So what if they are 1/3 third the size of any other sorority. They just started. Give them three more years.

If your computer is slow and you click rapidly on the up bottom it will count every click. I had a post that was upvoted by 20 people (a normal amount) then I came back like 10 minutes later and it had been down voted 300 times. Like clearly 300 people didn't see my post and decide to vote in a 10 minute time span. It's just someone trying to make their point.

They will be strong with really pretty girls because they have an experienced team behind them. They have many distinctions like being the first women's group to use Greek letters and being the founding member of the Panhellenic Council. They are impressive....so excited that my daughter is a new APhi at one of their oldest, biggest chapters.

Um... no, but thank you for trying so hard. Get some education. Neither of your claims are accurate, Mom.

"the first women's group to use Greek letters" I would love to know where you got this idea!!

They were the 4th. Pi Phi, Kappa and Theta proceeded them.
Still very impressive being the 4th out of the 26 Panhellenic sororities. Alpha Phi has a long, rich history behind them.

Hi APhi Mom!

Don't pay any attention to the negative posts on this site. Some people do not have any manners. Ignore them.

Alpha Phi is very family oriented. There are many events during the year.

Welcome to Alpha Phi!

Come on.... you didn't even get your correction correct!! You really have to know your history before pointing out someone's error.

Pi Phi was called IC Sorosis from 1867 until 1888. They did not start using Greek letters for nearly two decades, following Theta and Kappa in 1870.

Gamma Phi Beta was the first to be termed a "sorority" in Nov 1874.

Organizations founded prior to then are actually fraternities for women. Alpha Phi is correctly a fraternity for women, not a sorority.

The poster that said Alpha Phi will do well is absolutely correct. The chapter has an incredibly strong team behind them. Alpha Phi builds beautiful houses and Ole Miss will be no exception (did you know they were the first women's Greek organization to build a house?!) There are over 168 chapters most of which are top houses on their respective campuses. Over 220,000 initiated members. Alpha Phi might be new at Ole Miss, but they are the 4th oldest of all the Panhellenic sororities.
Ole Miss Panhellenic did their homework when they invited Alpha Phi to colonize. Alpha Phi will be an asset to Ole Miss. For all those saying they should have taken 200-300 women, there is no reason to. Alpha Phi chose to be selective on who they extended bids to. Smart move on their part. Realistically you don't need 200-300 women in a charter pledge class. Also with the addition of a new house, you should see smaller pledge classes going forward.
Again, thank you Ole Miss for the outpouring of support! And for those few negative posters...shame on you. You should be excited to have another house and an increasing Greek community. Your community is getting larger, while other communities on other campuses are getting smaller due to some house being removed for infractions. Your negative attitude only shows immaturity on your part.

Every girl I knew who was released from formal recruitment was picked up by aphi. They weren't as selective as you have been led to believe in this site!

Yes, they did get some great girls. I know of a few who were dropped from formal because of who they hung out with prior to rush. Aphi got those girls. Good for them.

But please quit already with the "selective" bit!

Read some of the postings on this site and you'll see Southetn woman are not as classy as they think. I have never read such vindictive and hateful things as I have here. A whole bunch of you need to go back to debutante schooling.

What do you mean by "released from formal recruitment"?

Do you mean women who dropped out of formal recruitment for a variety of reasons? Are you saying that women who drop out of formal recruitment are "losers".

This is very disingenuous, Everyone knows that recruitment behind the scenes is a hot mess. Lots of great women get dropped from houses because they are beat out by the legacies and friends of the current members. The truth is that most houses could fill half of a new member class with legacies alone. And then there are the friends from classes, high school, etc.

So don't imply here that women who drop out of formal recruitment are somehow deficient. You know better.

I am one of those "losers". When I went through formal rush as a freshman I was totally confused. Some houses where I had a great convo dropped me. Other houses where the convo was difficult kept me. I was ??? I dropped out in the middle of recruitment when I still had invitations from a range of houses. There was no informal recruitment so I went through rush again as a sophomore and I had all "top" houses throughout and joined one. I was the same person from the 1st year to the 2nd.

How dare you make such a denigrating generalization. Disgraceful!

Ole Miss recruitment is a farce. Houses like Tri delt and chi o are filled to the brim with legacies, many of which have poor grades and wouldn't have received bids anywhere else. Chapters at many other universities have done away with legacy status to make rush more fair for everyone, But Ole Miss is always the last to catch up with the times. And as long as this is how the system works, the so called top houses simply cannot call themselves selective!!! They couldnt drop these girls if they tried! And believe me, most of the time they want to. The winning houses are the ones who receive the great girls who are cut due to this antiquated system. Of course those houses are equally as good if not BETTER, but the alumni work overtime to keep them down.

Did you know that it was because of Alpha Phi that Panhellenic was formed?
"...By 1902, it was obvious that some standards were needed, so the women of Alpha Phi invited Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Delta Gamma, Gamma Phi Beta, Delta Delta Delta, Alpha Chi Omega, and Chi Omega to a conference in Chicago on May 24. Alpha Chi Omega and Chi Omega were unable to attend....."
Alpha Phi has always beenis about sisterhood and empowering woman.
