Maybe it's just luck, or the girls working really hard at connecting.

In my sorority we don't really match pnm's with actives until pref. In my sorority we are placed in a line and pickup the next girl who walks up.

The sororities know which PNM will be attending each party. Some might match PNMs with a member while others take them as they come through the door...

In my house if we know a girl coming in and want to bring her through, we will say so and look for her. Other times it's just a good connection. At pref, we are paired up.

All sororities spent months preparing for rush! We have practices connecting to others.

In my top house, everything we do has significance... Who picks you up, when you are picked up, where you sit in the room, which actives talk to you during a round. But we want every girl to feel welcome and we want to get to know every girl that walks in the door. We've been preparing for months and we do everything with purpous. And just because you get picked up last and sit in the back of the room doesn't mean you're 100% cut. You could impress the active you speak with and she could tell her advisers the second you walk out of the house.

It's always great to be one of the first in the house and one of the last out of the house. If your conversation is going really well, often the active will try to stall a little so she can keep talking to you and you'll end up being one of the last out of the house. But apparently order doesn't matter in some houses, so really I wouldn't worry too much about it! Good luck!

My house is considered "top" and only the first two or three names that we call in a round are really purposed, and they generally have in house sisters. Everyone else picks up randomly at random times

It depends on the sorority. At my house, the PNMs are paired with actives based on where they are from or if we have any shared interests. How we pick up girls and our order just depends on who gets in line first.

If you are the last one in, the active you're talking to knows how you feel. Today I was always the last to pick a girl up and it did not feel so good! Most rounds I was not assigned anyone to talk to at all. I understand that being last is disheartening. She is right there with you!

PNMs, don't worry. Legacies go in the houses first and then they continue to call the others into the house in alphabetical order. It's hard to call out 80-100 PNMs name in order... but generally, we try to go as accurate as possible. I thought this was a Panhellenic rule??
