by: OOSI think that something should be made clear about out of state percentages. When you ask if top tier houses take out of state girls and are given the answer "Yes more than half of the pledge class is" that can be very deceiving. I think the more appropriate question should be how many girls are not from the south? The majority of the top tier houses have girls from out of state, but of those out of state girls they are mostly all from southern states. Thats not to say there are not people from New York or California in those houses, but they are an extreme minority. I just think that its something to be aware of.

Sorry but I totally agree with this. People are saying "they have 2 California girls" or "they took a girl from Illinois!" Really, what difference do those handful of girls from non Southern states make (in terms of telling a PNM that all houses will take a girl from anywhere)? The truth is, yes, ALL houses take girls from OOS, but when you say "half the PC was OOS! Yay!" you're forgetting that the vast majority of those girls in the "top" houses are from other Southern states with a culture very similar to ours.

I'm not sure that this is entirely true. I think that the poster was right and that these things are amplified within the greek system.
Someone crunched the numbers last year and found that like <2% of the members of the top houses are from the North. That is a pretty low percentage and less than the population that come from the north to go to Ole Miss.
