by: PnmWill top sororities want rich girls? If they see that a girl is rich will they choose her over average girls?
#2by: Not really
Every girl pays the same amount in dues. We just want to make sure you're capable of paying your dues, which is part of why rec letters are neccesary and why we want to know about the kind of family you come from, and that's it. There's a stereotype that a certain sorority on campus talks about money during rush rounds and only bids rich girls, but of course it's not accurate. There are obviously rich girls in that sorority but I know plenty who aren't.
That being said, if we're looking between two girls who have similar resumes and both have good personalities, but one came from a rich, well known family and area of the country while the other is from a smaller more rural town.. You can guess who we will pick.

How do you get into a top house? Connections! Whether those connections are actives or alumni, you need connections to get into top houses.
Where do you get connections? Most connections to actives come from having known them in high school.
What type of High School did a large percentage of top house actives attend? Private Schools, or wealthy public schools.
What type of girls will have good connections and will likely end up on bid lists? Wealthy girls who went to private or wealthy public schools.
There is no magical formula. We extend bids to our friends and family members who come from the same back ground we did. That's how we connected in the first place.
If you are coming from one of the poorer regions, we probably don't know each other, and are less likely to have you included on our bid lists.

If you take instagram photos of your manicure in front of a Mercedes steering wheel (kardashian style) ... We assume you are really pathetic, and don't want you, no matter how rich you are. Subtle brag posts are pretty transparent ladies, don't do it, everyone on campus will laugh at you behind your back.
