I have a 3.0 with heavy involvement and tough classes. What houses will cut me due to my gpa alone? I thought a 3.0 was suppose to be safe

but GPA's from most of PNM's high schools seem to carry the same weight. If you went to a high school known for academics and received a 3.0 you will be seen as less competitive than a pnm who has a 3.2 from a school that is less academic. I've been fighting this battle with our alum advisors for a couple of years.

Then your alums are idiots. My roomie graduated from a prestigious boarding school with barely a 3.0. Got into honors college. Early admission. Her SATs were strong. If admissions gives a nod to better academic high schools. Then your alums are total idiots if they don't know the difference between a 4.0 at an average MS HS and a 3.0 from Exeter.

We know exactly what schools are more challenging and which ones inflate grades. Girls from the more challenging schools do receive extra consideration.

It's because there are SO many girls rushing. With almost 2,000 girls coming through rush, it's physically impossible for us to get to know each girl coming through. The best way for us to weed through pnms is gpa. 3.0 is "safe" but there are some houses that had to raise their gpa standards due to probation or nationals, etc.

I'm in a house that has upped their requirements to a 3.2. Honestly I would rather have pretty cute fun girls with a 3.0 than nerdy awkward girls with a 4.0. But, I'm not in charge of our bid lists.

I'm going through recruitment with a lot of girls from my high school year, and since our school is on a 7 point scale most of us have solid 3.0's. I think it's kind of ridiculous that the cuter girl with a better personality and came from a more challenging school will get cut before the nerdy awkward girl who came from an easier school all because of GPA. There are so many girls with yellow zone GPA's and even more with GPA's below 3.2, I guess there'll be a lot that don't get anything.

Oh, they will get a bid, well most of them anyway, their options will just be limited. Adpi will be a good choice as will alpha phi.

There are other sororities that will take girls in the yellow zone, I'm just not sure who.

Also, they only look at your unweighted gpa, so you will need to convert you 7 point scale to a 4 point scale to see where you fall. No extra points for ap or advanced classes.
