gpaaa
by: GpaI have a 3.0 with heavy involvement and tough classes. What houses will cut me due to my gpa alone? I thought a 3.0 was suppose to be safe
#1by: it's unfortunate
but GPA's from most of PNM's high schools seem to carry the same weight. If you went to a high school known for academics and received a 3.0 you will be seen as less competitive than a pnm who has a 3.2 from a school that is less academic. I've been fighting this battle with our alum advisors for a couple of years.
#2by: Well
It's because there are SO many girls rushing. With almost 2,000 girls coming through rush, it's physically impossible for us to get to know each girl coming through. The best way for us to weed through pnms is gpa. 3.0 is "safe" but there are some houses that had to raise their gpa standards due to probation or nationals, etc.
#3by: Trust me
#4by: pnm
I'm going through recruitment with a lot of girls from my high school year, and since our school is on a 7 point scale most of us have solid 3.0's. I think it's kind of ridiculous that the cuter girl with a better personality and came from a more challenging school will get cut before the nerdy awkward girl who came from an easier school all because of GPA. There are so many girls with yellow zone GPA's and even more with GPA's below 3.2, I guess there'll be a lot that don't get anything.

Then your alums are idiots. My roomie graduated from a prestigious boarding school with barely a 3.0. Got into honors college. Early admission. Her SATs were strong. If admissions gives a nod to better academic high schools. Then your alums are total idiots if they don't know the difference between a 4.0 at an average MS HS and a 3.0 from Exeter.
