way oos
by: WorriedI'm going to be a senior in high school this fall, and Ole Miss is my top choice. I definitely want to rush but I'm from WAY OOS - like the Northeast. I have a good GPA and I'm involved in a lot of extracurriculars, but I know absolutely no one at Ole Miss. I'm not looking to get into a top tier sorority, I just want to get into a house where I'm comfortable and get along with the other girls. Will being from so far away and not knowing anyone hurt my chances with every sorority?

It's awesome that you are starting so early! Here's my suggestions for a successful rush!
1). Find the nearest alumni association. Look on the ole miss website to find the one closest to you. Get in contact with them. They will be wonderful contacts to help you meet ole miss alumni. Most alumni will take you under their wing and introduce you to every sorority lady they know! These ladies may still have connections and can introduce you to actives who will in turn invite you to come stay with them in the springtime. Start looking now!
2). In January or February get in touch with your local Panhellenic association. Or the closest one to you. These ladies will help find you any recs you are missing.
3) start now lining up recs! Ask teachers, friends moms, parents co-workers, church ladies, neighbors, ladies you babysit for, employers. Look every where. The more recs and letters of support the better!
Don't just say you know you won't get top tier! There are many girls from way oos in top tier houses! They all started early with their rush preparation.
