I've been hearing about girls that are rushing who have grades as low as a 2.6 and even a 2.3. To these girls I have to say this:
You will definitely be dropped after day 1. It doesn't matter about connections or legacy status, Panhellenic will not give you a chance. You are the major grade risks and you are the first to go without question unless you have a huge reason why your grades are so low. I'm talking about you missed two years of school because you were deathly sick.
If you're a legacy, that doesn't matter. We don't care if your mom won't write us a check because we dropped you for not caring about academics. It's not our problem that you didn't try hard enough in college to make it past our min GPA (most of them are around a 2.8 which is plenty generous). When you're an active, you have to keep your grades up. That might be a 2.8 as well.
Rush next year. Get your grades up and don't get your hopes up about this year. You will be dropped first.
#4by: To be clear
While the comments above are not at all false, it depends on a lot of factors that do not need to be discussed on greek rank. What else is on your resume? Involved in High School? Extra curriculars? Community service hours? Was your high school on a 10 point scale? Don't answer any of that, but a lot more goes into it. Be patient! You'll find out soon!

If you are less than 3.0, especially from an affluent family that is a HUGE red flag, you are either lazy, entitled or possibly slow.... None of which is good. If you are a legacy it is an even larger red flag because your family member should have told you that you need good grades. For god's sake, your family could have paid for a tutor.
