northern nancy needs help

I'm transferring to Ole Miss this Fall and I'm also rushing. However, my issue is that I'm from Pennsylvania and I have 4 recs to various houses (our chapters here are so different the struggle is real). I've read up on where to acquire recs but seriously Greek life is laughable here and no one takes it seriously so it has been impossible to find anyone.
Does it look bad that I have OOS recs? The Tri Delt I have a rec for is in bad standing, does that matter (The chapter she belongs to, not the alumna)? My most important question though is do I have a chance at the top tier houses? I don't really care where I end up because I'm in it for the sisterhood, I'm just curious. I'm good looking and I have a 3.7 but I do not know a single person at Ole Miss. Where can I go to meet people and get my name out there? Also some actives followed me on social media... is that good?
Any advice helps!!

First of all you gave us too much info. You might think giving your state and gpa isn't too much but you're from Pennsylvania.. There are not many girls rushing who are from Pennsylvania and have a 3.7 gpa.. I could easily look you up if I wanted to.
You don't have a chance with a top tier house unless you are gorgeous, have tons of activities, a good rec letter, and an amazing personality. As you know, connections are most important. You don't have those. You barely have rec letters. Chances are you'll end up in a middle, or more likely a bottom tier house. You will make great friends and love your sorority. Don't stress too much.

Alpha phi is going to love you.
#1 The only sororities that will even consider you would be the 4 you have recs to, so your rush will be severely limited.
#2. There is no upper class quota here, so there is no motivation for sororities to bid sophomores.
#3. You are from the north, so that cuts out all the predominately southern top tier. (If you had connections, you would stand a better chance).
#4. Not knowing anyone will hurt you. Actives will be paying attention to the dynamics on campus right away. They will make note of the girls who stand out in groups, girls they recognize from around campus and town. If you don't know anyone and are not out and seen around, you will never get the attention you need to receive a bid. Trust me, ole miss is fun, but it takes work to fit in and make friends. It is a very cliquish school
Alpha phi will be looking for girls just like you!

She has a point but alpha phi isn't the only sorority you have a shot with. Adpi, theta, aopi, and pi phi are other great sororities that won't cut you just because you lack connections and are from the north. If you stand out during rush and have a good resume (clearly you have a great gpa) you will likely get a bid and won't have to resort to colonizing with alpha phi.
