by: ConfusedI'm confused. Are cuts after skit rare? Like how does the cut after skit work. Are you then left with just two houses by then and then you go to pref? Can sororities cut after pref? Do houses have lists of favorites by skit?

Sororities already have favorites now. But yes, they'll have a list of their top girls by skit (probably sooner). There are lots of cuts after skit. On pref you can only go back to two houses. The matching system will put you at the two houses that have you highest after skit. Hope this helps!

how does the matching system work? If you like house x,y, and z, and end up cutting the other houses off of your list but houses a, b, c want you do you just end up without a bid or is there a process to give them a second shot if you may not have cared for them as much early on?

So when it really comes down to it my opinion doesn't matter much until pref. What If both of the sororities I go to on pref night are just stringing me along? I read on here that some like to do that.. Would I go without a bid simply because they were selfish and wanted more girls to come back?

first of all they are not being selfish- it doesn’t work like that. return numbers are based on percentages and if you are invited back to skit it means they really like you… one thing you need to get through your head right now is that cuts for the most part ARE NOT PERSONALl.. just because a sorority cuts you doesn’t mean they don’t like you it just means that for whatever reason someone else is higher on their list than you were. This could be because the girl has connections or a higher GPA or speaks farsi… you will never ever know but if they bring you back to skit then they like you if they bring you back to pref they see you as a sister even if you don’t end up as one.
Secondly- if you go back to pref and you list all your houses you will most probably get a bid (I won’t say you def. will because sometimes it does happen but it is soooooooooo rare)…
you seriously need to just relax and have fun and enjoy the process not try to figure it out because there are a 100 different variables that go into it all…

1. Are cuts after skit rare? No, for some houses, these are the biggest cuts.
2. After skit, your invites will narrow down to 2 for pref.
3. Can sororities cut after pref? It's not so much the act of cutting, it's more where a girl lands on their bid list. The high your name appears, the greater chance you have of receiving a bid. Once a house reaches quota, they can either chose to take quota additions and bid everyone who put their sorority first on their pref card, or they can choose not to accept quota additions. In that case a PNM will go to her second choice.
It's rare for a PNM to he cut after pref, it's not so rare for her to land in her second choice sorority.
4. Do sororities already have their list of favorites made up by skit? Yes. To be more exact, sororities already have their lists of favorites NOW. Those lists will change based on return rates and which PNM return to their sorority after each round, but basically, the answer for the top six houses is yes. For the bottom houses, their lists are still really fluid because most of their favorite girls will end up in the top six houses and they will be left with the leftovers. Harsh, but unfortunately true. After the first round, most girls are irritated to find pi phi and below still on their invite list.

My biggest cuts came after skit-- anyway its basically a numbers game.. you don’t cut anyone- “mutual selection” is a load of bull crap… You will list your houses in order and then they are matched with the sororities list so after skit you list XYZ as your top three and ABC as your bottom 3. Let’s say you are on the top list for X, B, C but on the bottom list for everyone else you will receive invites back to X, B, C… of which you will pick two. So you go back to X and C for pref and then rank them… so you list X fist and C second... again they will match this with the sororities list… C has you higher on their bid list than X you will receive a bid to C… if neither have you high on their list then you will be a quota addition and will be placed in whatever one has the fewest matches…
This is assuming you list all of your invites. If you only list X because you would “rather die than be a C” then you will go bidless.
