The sororities are going to look at grades and activities in high school when choosing new girls. If a girl gets cut the first round it is usually for grades. Everyone knows that KD, DDD, Chi O and DG are the strongest chapters at Ole Miss. I think that if you are a smart and can hold a nice conversations Rush won't be too hard for you. Greek life has been such a blessing for my daughter. She has made so many new friends and chose her sorority because it was the "house" that she felt most comfortable. She made the right choice~ friends for life.

"Lets get real" (below) speaks the truth. Compared to any other University, the sororities at Ole Miss are almost storybook. Ergo, PNMs should not underestimate the process. Most classify it as intense if not brutal.

Just how important is your GPA? Is it true many sororities make their first cut for low grades? What is considered a low GPA to make an early cut? Mine is a 2.8 is that too low? Thanks!

Yes, you need at least a 3.0

Don't know about Ole Miss, but my chapter at state considered anything less than a 3.0 a "grade risk" back when I was in school. If you've got EXCELLENT activities, are cute, and have a good reputation, you could still land a spot in a top house. But, you'll really have to sell yourself well during rush.

I'm from the west coast and I can tell you that DG is by FAR the strongest group in California. Everyone wants to be a DG...everthing else (in CA) is second best. I know that the Ole Miss chapter has been historically strong and when my (very cute, smart and popular) cousin when thru, DG at Ole Miss cut her. She was broken-hearted. She did pledge another house and has been happy, but still wishes she could tell everyone back home that she went DG :(

dg may be good on the west coast, but kappa and theta are equally strong

I think Ole Miss has so many wonderful sororities to chose from . They all had great skits and the houses are beautiful. Rush was one of the best experiences of my life. I thought that Kappa had great girls, and KD , I pledged Tri- Delt but thought there were many sororities with great girls! Ole Miss is the best!

I am also from California and that whole bit about DG being the most sought after on the west coast, not quite. While DG is sought after, Kappa and Theta are just as equally, if not more sought after. Pi Phi is also very good out west. Just making a point. Not putting down DG.
