Horrific? Ole Miss Recruitment is competitive. It's competitive if you're the one getting cut. If the school uses RFM, then it's competitive. PERIOD. You, the PNM, need to understand that competitive generally means that you will LIKELY find a home (presuming you have all the required credentials) but you may not find THE home you dreamed of before recruitment started. And it IS a mutual selection process if you go all the way through rush as the superstar PNM who doesn't get cut by any chapters. That?s when the PNM gets to participate in the deciding. It does happen, even at the schools like Ole Miss, just not very often. It goes that way for a handful of girls at Ole Miss each year. Out of over 1,400 PNMs, if a girl can do SOME deciding, then that's great, but she shouldn't expect (although they do every year) to get her top list for every round without having to go to any ranked chapters through the process. Give each chapter a chance, Pref Night is when to pick.

I went through recruitment last fall. I thought I had found the perfect house during pref round and was so happy to get a bid from them. My experience at that house turned into a nightmare and all the girls were superficial, mean and extremely judgemental. The actives were unapproachable and rude to pledges. I had nothing in common with any of them, even though i thought id get along with them just fine in the beginning. I ended up dropping, even though I never would have expected to at first. Girls, make sure you choose wisely. Good luck with recruitment.

post about what happen to me. I was never a big party girl in high school, but when I joined a sorority they could not understand that. There were some girls who thought it was fun to get wasted all the time. They were legacy's and no one stopped them. I was disguisted by their behavior because they were thought of as good christians. I am here to tell you Jesus would not be proud. I finally found other members of my group who were like me. My best suggestion is be true to who you are. There are good people but if someone makes you feel uncomfortable then avoid them.

I didn't know many people in sororities when i went through recruitment, so i didn't have anyone i knew well trying to recruit me. I was split between two houses on pref night. the house i put first impressed me with how 'close' the girls seemed, their upbeat personality and i just felt like i would fit in the best with them. I knew absolutely no one in that sorority before recruitment. in the house i put down as my second choice, i had one really good friend and i feel that if i would have gotten my second choice i would have had a better experience.
